HAULING OUT IN GUAYMAS

We are now in Guaymas. We came here to haul the boat and do some work on the bottom and so we could go back to the states for a couple months.  Guaymas is mostly an industrial port and most cruisers go a little north to San Carlos. Guaymas is trying to bring more cruisers in by building new marinas. We are in the Singular marina. It has only been officially open one month. The facility has been here about a year but the paperwork was not done to allow them to officially operate. The facility is very very nice. Being new it is very clean and modern. The haul out yard is paved and they have showers, laundry, wifi and a swimming pool. We are allowed to use all the facilities. There is a charge for the laundry but it is very reasonable. We will be eating out a lot since we are out of the water and I can't use water on the boat as it drains overboard. Not that I am complaining!!! But, other then that right now we are not doing a lot of sight seeing as the focus is to work on the boat and go home for awhile. Below are some pictures of the haul out. It was so amazing. Even though these guys are newly opened they really know their stuff. Not a single glitch or slip up during the whole process. Bravo the the guys at Singular!!

Just getting into the slip and getting the slings positioned under the boat.

Going up!!

(notice I'm not onboard!)

                                         THE PRO AT WORK.

                                                     PIECE OF CAKE!

As you can see we have some cleaning to do on the bottom and if you notice, how can you not, the black line above the water line!? Yea, we have to raise the water line. That is the hazards of cruising full time, you load the boat up of creature comforts and the waterline goes up with it. It is a small price to pay for the joy we are having being here.

As you can see here, some parts of the bottom have been sadly neglected.  We really are not that lazy, we have been waiting for the haul out to modify and remove part of this dagger board. My oh My what a load of growing creatures we have here!!! But as you can see in the background the rest of the bottom really isn't so bad.

For now that's all I have on Guaymas. We can see from the marina a beautiful church tower and a statue on the waterfront that I hope to get pictures of eventually. The weather is hot but not so hot we are melting yet but the humidity at time becomes a little oppressive.  We have not yet started actually working on the bottom so we shall see once we start exerting a little energy how things go.
